Cooling an oven
So now that I can find the Prescott, I'm wondering if there is any coolers out, just fan and heatsink that can cool this beast, Otherwise, it looks like an Athlon 64 or a northwood. While I'm babbing on which is better Athlon XP or Northwood, I know I'll get both sides but oh well.
Thanks, Charlie |

AMD and Intel are good products. It comes down to personal preference.

Stay with the Northwood until Socket775 comes out and no more AMD/Intel debates.

the Athlon 64-FX will be changing from socket 940 to socket 939 in the next couple months. the reason behind this is because the 940 pin only accepts ECC registered memory. you can buy an opteron 148 for 1/2 the price of a socket 940 FX and have almost the same processor, except for the opteron has a bigger hypertransport bus. the socket 754 A64s will be discontinued by the 3rd quarter of this year. the 32-bit CPUs currently made by AMD will migrate to socket 754, thus making it 32-bit only. by the end of this year, you will only see A64s in the FX or opteron flavor.
