What software are you using to attempt to back them up? I mainly use -R but you should be able to use any kind. The big problem with the differnt media comes when attempting to play them in a home DVD unit.

alright, you are trying to back up dvd movies, is that correct?

here is the way that i do it, and it has never failed me. i first decrypt the movie to my hard drive using dvddecrypter (www.dvddecrypter.com). i then use dvd2one to compress the file to the size of a dvd. i then burn it using nero.

if you need more detail, i would be happy to provide it, but this at least gets you going in the right direction

I used DVDXcopy for awhile but it is a real flaky piece of software. It has a mind of it's own. Very unreliable. I use DVD Shrink and My Sonic to backup my DVD's.

No problems with DVDXCopy Xpress here. Still my preferred DVD movie backup software.
