Question Thermaltake cpu coolers

what makes the difference between a Thermaltake volcano 9 and a volcano 11? the both physically appear the same with the exception of color...the volcano 9 spec say up to 3000 cpu and the volcano 11 say 3200+ cpu....now the volcano 11 fan runs at 4000rpm and moves somewhere around 50cfm of air while the volcano 9 has an adjustable fan that runs 5000rpm and moves 75cfm of air.... get me if I am wrong but doesn't more air movement mean better cooling? I personally use the volcano 9 just because you can get the cool mod on it which makes for a new light show if you have a side window. I have put these to the test on 2400 xp's and 2600 xp's and pushed both to 2.4 and 2.6 respectivly and not gotten temps over 50c. thats with no duct on the fan. at sock speeds this fan turned down to a less noisy 4000rpm the temps are still only 38-40 deg c...........T

the V11 has more copper fins in it. id opt for a thermalright though not much more money, but cools much better

The copper is the diff. Copper absorbs heat a lot better. I think it would have been a better disign if they had kept a higher CFM rating AND gone with more copper fins, but hey, I'm no engineer. Anyway, I agree with Tin, I would get a Thermalright before any other HSF out there. They are awesome!

I did check out that h/s looks nice but won't work on my rig...not enough room between the cpu and the power supply... The main reason I opt for the volcano 9 is 2 reasons.. 1 the price... these can be had for $18 h/s and fan...2 the coolmod part is nice...I could buy two of these for the price of one h/s alone....Most of my customers are budget oriented penny pinchers as are I myself....most are not game inflicted or intense application people but, for those few I would install the better

im running a lanboy, the most space starved case around. i had no problems fitting an SLK-900A in my rig. BTW i paid $25 for my SLK-900A, you just have to shop around for a deal. heres how mine sits in my rig http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=89074. the "cool-mod" is ok, but for you can get any color fan youd like for your thermalright now thats cool moddin

I have a Raidmax case (268wup) and a Biostar atx board and there is only about 1 inch between the cpu chip and the p/s....this would be better if there was more room maybe a diff board.... by the way you use the Abit board... do you also use the Abit video card? if so do you have any pro's or con's

im using an eVGA video card....eVGA is built by nvidia, like ATI is built by ATI. eVGA just markets the cards for nvidia. chipsets dont discriminate against which video card you choose. as for the heatsink, i have about an inch clearance between my ZIF socket and my PSU as well.
