Help, partition magic NO
Alright ill start from the beginning. I have 2 harddrives, harddrive 1 is my bootable with windows xp on it. harddrive 2 had 2 partitions on it (G: and H: ) partition G was very small with nothing on it and partition H was about 75 gigs and had everything on it, i mean everything, games, music, software install files, everything. So i wanted to put a second OS on partition G so i got partition magic and I was gonna make partition G larger, well while it was moving the partition around everything stopped and froze, I rebooted and now I have my larger empty partition G but its not recognizing partition H: AHHHH! I went it to partition magic and it just shows where partition H: was as a strange "3C (hex) PqRP" partition. So did I lose everything or is there a way to recover this strange partition?

Have you tried switching it around using windows partition tool? I have done this and it seem a lot easier. I'm willing to bet you lost everything, but not to sure. Keep your fingers up and hope for the best.

This is what the Partition Magic Help file has to say about the PqRP partition that you have on your hard disk.
PqRP Partitions If your computer fails during a PartitionMagic operation, you may see a partition that displays as PqRP or PQFLEX in the partition list in the main screen. PartitionMagic flags a partition with a PqRP file system and a PQFLEX label, so you know that the partition has been modified. You should assume that a PqRP partition is not stable. Contact PowerQuest technical support for help in recovering data from a PqRP partition.

I tried finding the powerquest website, but powerquest has since been bought by Symantec and every link on their website that leads to technical support is a dead link. You would think symantec would keep their technical support up to date.

Hey thanks for the link, I changed it back to NTFS file system using the partition table editor and then had to change it to a logical drive and then reassign a drive letter and rebooted windows. And everythings there where it should be, hopefully nothings corrupted. Thanks again pillainp!

Sorry to drag up the same old story but I am in a similar position ... in need of some help (and frantic about losing photos of my daughter I'd taken since my last back-up) .
I'm at the same stage, have seen all the documentation re. PTEDIT but when I try and run it I get a message about Quote:
