Emergency! Printer help needed!

Like an idiot, I just purchased Hockey tickets from Ticketmaster and for the first time I chose to recieve the tickets by email, where you actually print them out. I should have known something would go wrong. I don't usually use my printer very often and didn't realize there was a problem.

When I try to print a page, for some reason, about 1/2 inch of the right side of the page is getting cut off. Unfortunately for me, THAT'S THE SIDE WITH THE BAR CODE ON MY EXPENSIVE HOCKEY TICKETS AND THE GAME IS TONIGHT!!!
What could be causing this? What should I do?

First off, we need to know what version of Windows, what printer, and what format the tickets are in.

Without this info, all I can suggest is you try printing them landscape instead of portrait.

Also see if there is a "printable version" button at the Web site. A lot of Web pages will not fit on the printed page as they are too wide. Usually, too, places will email you a copy of the sale for printing purposes but I don't know about TM for sure...

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread. For the emergency, I just called Ticketmaster and had them change the tickets to Willcall but I would like to figure this out for future uses.

The tickets get sent in PDF format but since the original problem, I've noticed that it isn't just this format that is the problem, it's almost any page that I try to print. It "seems" that all my settings are right and I do have the right size, 8 1/2X11.

These ticketFast tickets are sent specifically for printing in PDF format so I'd have to assume that they are already "supposed" to be a printable version.

Have you already deleted and reinstalled the printer? Also, how do test pages and calibration pages print?

Haven't tried anything with test pages or calibration pages yet either. Wouldn't really know how, to tell ya the truth.

when you print can you see the wagon move? does it move all the way over the page is does it get stopped halfway)
how is the divide between the printed part and the blank part, is it sharp or does it sort of fade away?
have you looked inside the printer?

i am unaware of the price of both printer and ink where you live, but if you lived in Belgium i'd advise you to get a new printer, the cost only marginally more than the 2 ink cartridges you get with it. and you save yourself what sounds like a rather serious problem.

Can't see the wagon move because when I try to open the printer to see, the printing stops.

Only to try and watch the wagon as stated above.

Acrobat should show an option to "shrink" to fit the paper size. Have you tried that?

Yes, I've tried all the "fit to" options....size, width, actual size, ect., ect..........with no luck.

grasping at straws here.... have you tried to print it out on a different system? Like maybe take it to a friends house on a thumbdrive or CDRW?

No, I haven't tried that yet. I guess that's a possibility but it doesn't really take care of my problem though. I'm stumped but when it comes to PCs that not so difficult. That's why I come here.

well look at it this way if your printer works on another system than you know it's not a hardware problem. however it sounds like it might be a hardware-problem. (it sounds to my like the wagon isn't moving all the way back and forth. if there is a print utility installed with the printer you might want to try recallibrating it. Also i recommend you have a good look on the inside first and clean off anything that might be obstructing the wagon.

You assume incorrectly. I'm not really even sure exactly what you mean by this. Could you explain a little further. Please excuse my ignorance.

I HAVE figured out a work around. If I go into the printer properties and scale back to 89% I end up with the entire width of what ever I'm trying to print but as I say, it's just a work around and not really exceptable to me as it is .....scaled down.

what i mean is; did you try to print with word or some program other than acrobat.
this in order to confirm that it's not a problem with acrobat, this is unlikely, but you have to be sure, esp since it's easy to check.

Inkjets do have a tendency to cut the right margin off, it's the nature of the beast, it has to do with the total printable area that the printer is capable of using versus your margin settings. That's why I suggested you print in landscape mode.

To be quite frank i din't realize how litle 1/2 inch was, but i looked it up, about 1 cm, that sounds about right. i know newer printers tend to reduce the "lost" piece of paper
