Cool No CD-ROM or CD-RW after Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

my cdrom drive and cdrw drive were both working before installing windows 2000 service pack 4.
now under my computer i have a hard drive and a floppy disk.
no sign of a cd drive.
i also have an ata card on my hard drive (i dont know if that makes a difference)

what do i need to do so windows 2000 recognizes my cd drives?

Try a manual driver install from the Add New Hardware wizard.

Right click on My Computer, select Manage, then Device Manager. Are the IDE controllers all there and not flagged? You might have to reinstall your motherboard drivers.
