I have an image file-iso. Can I include other files with that image file onto one cd? All the files + iso fits the cd. How to do it?
Using cd-r, not rw.

No. Use cdr right click on file and choose copy to Cd. this is the process with easy cd creator. If the iso file is a program it will copy it like a retail copy. If you try to put other files on the same Cd you will run into problems running the progam that came in the iso format.

Yes you can. You can use a program such as UltraISO, or any other CD image editor. You could even use the latest versions of WinRAR (3.2 or better).
Using such a program, you can edit an ISO image to add or remove files in the image and then burn it to CD, as long as the final image is not larger than the size of the CD. It does not matter whether you burn the ISO to a CD-R or to a CD-RW. The benefit of using a CD-RW is that if you leave your session open, you can actually modify the files while they are on the CD-RW itself. That means that you can have all your critical files backed up on the CD-RW and then when a file changes, you can replace just that one file with the new version. But remember that a CD-RW can be accidentally erased while a CD-R cannot. Last edited by pillainp; 03-14-2004 at 09:55 AM. |

Thanks, I have winrar. I will try experimenting with it. But, if it's a program iso, then adding files will destroy the program? Any other iso formats-movies etc that when adding new stuff destroys the iso?

As far as I know, it should not. I myself have a backup of my original Photoshop CS CD to which I have added a number of free tutorials and filters/pl;ugins that I use regularly, so that I will not have to search for them when I need to do a reinstall.
As long as you do not mess with the original structure of the distribution (renaming files, deleting directories or changing file versions) there should not be a problem. You would be better off using a tool such as UltraISO (free trial download available from http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/. I do know that WinRAR will open ISO's but I do not know if there are any changes made to the image. I expect you will be safe, though. Last edited by pillainp; 03-14-2004 at 11:18 AM. |

Yes, you can use Nero to write the ISO to CD once you have editted it and added the files you want.

The method used most is to take the files from the iso using a zip utility. (winzip will do this) Extract the files from the iso into a directory of its own and add the other files (in their own directories preferrably) you want to burn and then burn the whole mess.

Ok, I know how to do all that. The trouble is that the program-ultra iso does not allow more than 300mb. My total files are 540mb. How to solve this. I'm using the free version.

Download the free 40 day trial version of WinRAR and use that. I have a paid version of UltraISO, so I did not know about the 300 MB limit on the free version.

Thanks. I don't know, the winrar I have seems to have done the job. I just open the iso file, then use nero added all of the files and the file I am adding it. Burn, I place the cd in, and the aplication with the file added works fne
Thanks
