MOBO problems, i think :(

ok, i bought a new MOBO, and a new tower for it.
I took everything out of my old tower and done what was said by someone on this forum, to run the mobo outside of the tower, so i did.
I have the power cables in my PSU, the PSU is plugged into my MOBO, i have put in the gfx card, and have plugged my monitor into my gfx card. I have the CPU and heatsink all in place and plugged into the mobo. I have put in one stick of ddr ram, and thats all. but when i switch it on, i still get "no signal" on my monitor.

I have a packard bell monitor, a AMD athlon xp 1600, Radeon 9200 128 mb.1 gb ram(1 stick)(also have a 512 MB ram,1 stick). The MOBO is a gigabyte GA-7VA.

Someone also told me that packard bell hardware doesnt always work with other companies hardware, do i have to get myself a new monitor? or is there another problem?
I also have no clue what BIOS setup is.
(i am not new to computer but i am new to installing hardware such as MOBO's.)

do you have the start-up/reset switch connected or connected to the board correctly? I ran in to this a while back with an ATI board the pins were differnt from the board I was replacing it with!!! really check the manual and make sure all the power and led's are hooked up in the right spot...if the are try turning the power switch wires around...T

Yeah, they are all in the right place, checked manual. when i tried it in the tower, it also had the beep noises. so i dont think its the power..

Could it be that i need a more powerful PSU?

what size p/s do you have?....beep noises mean something...if you get more than one its trying to tell you some thing is wrong.....read the forums for how to test a m/b outside the case....

What kind of beep codes are you getting? What brand/model of psu are you using?

i get two beeps.
Im not sure what psu im using, but the cpu,gfx card and the psu all worked in another system...
i got a 300watt or whatever it is with the tower, i used that and it was the same "no signal" on the monitor, i used my old psu a 230watt i think, and it was still the same with the monitor. all times i got two beeps.

Two long beeps or short beeps? 1 long followed by 2 short means the video adapter is bad or not seated properly.

Hth,

well if u have no ram then your comp will not load up. just go to the manufactures ( i think i spelled that right) site and test your ram c if it works out.

Yes...actually, it would keep it from booting at all. Your board uses PC1600, PC2100, or PC 2700-184 pin. Is the stick your currently have one of those?

Is that 1 gig stick compatible with the board - and have you tried it in all 3 slots? Same problem with just the 512mb stick, all 3 slots?
