Persistent Hangs on Win98SE Computer
I have heard something to the effect that there is a parameter which, if set higher than the memory chip speed, can cause persistent, intermittent failures (blue screen-show's over type).
What's this about and how can I check into it. I am doing this for a friend who runs a non-profit. I replaced the 32k in the machine with a 128k chip I bought at CompUSA months ago (too long ago to go back to them). I have checked for viruses and have run the VXD fix, but to no avail. Thanks. Tom |

Home built or store bought name brand computer?
What are the specs? If you're getting any error messages, what do they say exactly? Have you tested the new RAM? Do a search for DocMemory or Memtest86, down load it, put it on a bootable floppy and then test the RAM 1 stick at a time. Cricket
