pc shuts down and refuse to boot up again
I am asking this on my friend's behalf. He was using his Compaq pc for around 15 minutes and it suddenly it shut down automatically. When he tried to boot up, it failed. According to him, he did not do anything to the pc and that the pc have been up and running for quite some time. He said it was a P4 2.8ghz. That's all i know. Can anyone tell me what is happening?
He said that there was no led lights on, no fans spinning. Its as if the pc is dead. |

first thing to look at is to be sure that it is getting power,
then check to see if any fans are running and if monitor is on. very possible the the psu went south |

if no fans are running , then I would suspect a bad power supply.
you might check to make sure that one of the buttons is not stuck in on the front of the case too. the power on button or the reset button. the fan on the power supply should be running if it is getting power you cannot use any standard atx power supply as that system uses a differant confiqureation on the power connection to the motherboard too. |
