cpu overheating
Help.... i recently tried my hand at building my own pc. i used a p4 2.8 800fsb prossesor, a intel 875pbz motherboard, a thermaltake 420 watt powersource. it seems to work ok. but i was wondering if 32 to 35 degrees is to hot. i have 5 fans and i used a silver type greese on the cpu @ hsf. the other day i was playing tiger woods 2004 and all of a sudden the heat spiked and the computter shut down. is this the game you think or is something amiss in the cpu?

the orignal heatsink already has a thermal pad coating on it and if you used additional grease on it too, then your asking for heat problems,,
the p4 cannot be damaged by heat, it will just slow down to a skower speed to protect it. |

That temp is very good for the P4. If it gets over 60°C is starts to become alarming, but as said, the P4 will slow down to prevent damage.
Looks that you gan remove some fans to prevent noise  RJ

oops
i did freak out and go and buy a copper hsf from thermaltake... then i applied as5 to the new hsf.... hope it works better. thanks for the replies.. im a newbie at this.. but it was fun to try
