When I press DEL upon boot up to get into the bios I am getting stuck with a black screen with a blue line across the bottom. I can't get back into bios. This started after I tweaked the bios to enable:
Enhance Chip Perf Force 4 Way Interleave Enable DRAM 4k-page mode SDRAM Clock Cycle =change from 3 to 2 I have 2x128 Mushkin Rev 2, 222. Does this mean it doesn't like a change I made and I'm going to have to clear cmos to get back in? I did boot it into Windows a couple times testing it. I shut down for a couple hours. When I came back I turned it on and it came on for about a second then shut down like the power was cut. It did this twice, then started up on the 3rd time. Now here I am. After about 5 minutes my cpu temp is 39c, my cpu fan is at 4800rpm. Making me nervous. I'm not overclocked really, 900tbird@ 7x133=931. The Mushkin ram should be able to take what little I'm throwing at it. |

Is the RAM set to HSTCLK? or HSTCLK+PCI? it is best to change one setting at a time, that way you can figure out what you can and can't do and don't end up guessing.

HSTCLK.
I'll definitely do one setting at a time from now on. I was impatient. |

I've tried clearing cmos and pressing INSERT while booting. Now upon boot it says it's back to 9x100 (I was at 7x133 before) but I still can't get into bios. It says CPU UNWORKABLE OR HAS BEEN CHANGED. RECHECK -CPU SOFT MENU. PRESS F1 TO CONTINUE OR DEL TO ENTER SET UP.
Well, I can press F1 and continue into Windoze but I still get stuck with the black screen with the blue horizontal line at the bottom. |

Enter set-up and disable the field that refers to "speed error hold" you may want to try a different video card until you get back to normal.

I'd be glad to try but I CAN'T GET INTO THE BIOS SETUP.
I reset the defaults by booting up and pressing CTRL-ALT-INS. Now it says CHECKSUM ERROR-DEFAULTS LOADED, or something like that. But I still can't get into the bios. In about 30 trys, I did get in once and it froze on me. I had to cut power off. |

Pull everything but the bare essentials, try running with CPU, RAM, and video only.

Problem solved, for the most part.
I unplugged Fan2, the only extra fan I had. It was a 3 pin Enermax Ultra Cool. I noticed in Hardware Monitor that the fan speed was fluctuating between 3500 and 9000. This seemed odd since my temps were low. So I unplugged it and now I can get into bios. About 12 times in a row now, and going tweak crazy. It might not be the fan, but it might be the Fan 2 header. I read in another forum that a couple others had problems with fans. |
