SATA Drives VS IDE Drives
I have two 80 gb WD IDE HDD's at 7200 rpm /w 8mb cache. Would there be any advantages to switching to 2 80gb 7200 rpm SATA drives /w 8mb cache other than case organization and air flow? I want to switch to SATA but if there is no real practical reason then I'll hold off. I really don't see teh need for the 10,000 rpm drive.

No. The advantage of SATA for equal performing drives is the smaller cable.

Unless you're planning on configuring them in a RAID. Dunno if your mobo supports that, tho.

SATA give a tad better maximum burst transfer rate, 150Mbps versus 133Mbps, but in my opinion it would not be worth the cost to replace two working 80G drives just for that small increase.

The 10000RPM drives might give you a boost of speed.
