SATA and IDE

Just finished a new build with
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe
AMD 3000+
2x 512 Crucial ram DDR PC3200
ATI 9700 Pro All in Wonder
Seagate SATA 80G Hard Drive
XP Pro
First I'll tell you of my experiences with installing the SATA drive then I'll ask my question. I got the DiscWizard for the Seabate drive off the website which formats the drive which worked like a charm. XP Pro setup stops and tells me I have no hard drive attached. I say open your window Windows I can see it fine lol. Go to oracle Google find A FAQ on the ASUS website saying I need press the F6 when setup first starts and load the Third party Drivers for the Sata interface but of course it dont tell me which ones so I go searching the driver list for something that might work( of course they are on the CD included with the motherboard duh but they need to be loaded from a floppy). Found some Sata drivers load them and all is well.
Now for my question. I would like to copy some data files from the IDE hard drive onto this Sata drive can I just connect the IDE drive normally. I had to put the boot sequence as floppy-scsi(makes Sata drive the boot drive) - cdrom. Do the different interfaces conflict in any way?

No. Just hook up the drive. You may need to allocated the drive if XP doesn't recognize it at first.

Start > right click My Computer > select Manage > select Disk Management and right click the IDE drive. The drop down will give you the option to allocate and make active.
