This is my first build and I have had really great sucess thanks to all the help I have received here.
This what I finally ended up with: ASUS P4C800-E P4 2.8Ghz, Northwood 2- WD Raptor 74GB 1- WD SATA 160GB Radeon 9600XT Antec True 430W PSU Lite-On DVD+/-RW 2- 512 Transcend/PC3200 All in a Kingwin KT-11 Now, all that I am having trouble with is the drive set up. I have a total of 4 SATA connections. 2 are Intel, 2 are Promise. Right now, I have the 160G in the Intel SATA 2 and the Raptors in the Promise Raid Controller. When I turn this little unit on it says, no array found hit esc... Next I get the BIOS menu. Secondary IDE Master - Lite-On DVD Fourth IDE Master - WD 160GB That's it. Where are my Raptors? Shouldn't I be able to see them here? Obviously I have something connected incorrectly but this part of the ASUS manual is a little fuzzy for me. Plus after all this reading there is also seems to be a dilemma as to whether the Raptors should be connected to the Intel or Promise.

That has to do with your RAID controler, not your BIOS. Watch the screen carefully during a system boot. You will see that it tells you what key to hit to get to the RAID setup.

Yeah watch the boot screen, I have the same mobo, unfortunatly, i cannot remember with certainty the key to get into RAID setup....if I wasn't at work I'd check for you, i am thinking F1, but it says right after the little Asus AI screen....
**edit** never mind, I just learned how to read, and I don't have the same mobo....however the key may be the same

I would recommend you put the Raptors on the Intel ICH5R and the other drive on the Promise - the Intel controller is a bit faster than the Promise because it's in the chipset and doesn't depend on the PCI bus.
