Hey, I'm building a new system, and I was curious was to what would be adequate as far as fans/cooling measures go. For now i was just going to go with the standard power supply fan/cpu fan, but I'm thinking this may not be satisfactory.

Heres the specs of what I'm building:

Soyo 7VCA2 mobo
Pentium 3 FCPGA 1Ghz 133fsb
Crucial 256MB PC133
Guillemot Hercules Prophet 3D II
Soundblaster Live!
IBM Deskstar 45 GB 7200 rpm UltraATA/100

Plus, modem and cd-roms etc., but those aren't important.

Will i get by with power supply fan/cpu fan, or should I invest in more? I'm not sure what to get as far as fans go.

Any help would be appricated.

If you dont plan on doing any Over Clocking you should be fine. I would however check the system temp after you have everything up and running to make sure.

Well depending on the size of your case and if you have the room I'd get a couple case fans as well. One in the front of the case blowing air in..and one in the back blowing air out. Also make you sure you have adequate cpu heatsink/fan combo, and get a good one if you plan on overclocking your chip. HTH

The 1ghz P3 doesn't have much leeway. Intel themselves couldn't get it to work at 1.13ghz, and had to recall that particular model after they released it.

Yes, I'd say a decent CPU fan would be sufficient, since you won't get much out of overclocking it anyways.

Thumbs up

I don't plan to overclock it, so I figured that would make the cooling situation a little easier. I just wanted to make sure that i wouldn't have any problems.

I'll look into getting some case fans, its dependant on what my case will support for that. I'll definitely keep an eye on the temps as well.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
