DVD R/RW Incorrect speed?
I have a Creative Labs 8X DVD-+R/RW. It's supposed to be 4X with a DVD-R, but when I use Nero or any other burn software it only shows the burn speed of 2X and there are no selections for 4X...?? is it a software/hardware setting or could this be related to my CPU being only a PIII 600mhz (drive specs say min. of PIII 800mhz)??

Could be the slower CPU, is it possible your DVD's are only 2X? Maybe the hardware detects the max burn speed for the media, and that's all they'll support.

Make sure you have the latest updates for your burning software and the latest firmware for your drive, and that DMA is enabled on your IDE controllers.

The softwares are up to date as well as the firmware for the DVD R/RW and DMA is enabled. I totally forgot to check the discs, they might be the problem. The label for the spindle of 25pack says Fujifilm, DVD-R, 4.7GB/Go 120Min...it doesn't say anything about 2X or 4X....??
