freon cooling
can I pour freon into my water cooling system to lower my temps further? would liquid oxygen work?

I'm not sure if Freon would work, and Liquid Nitrogen is not exactly a practical cooling solution. What are your temps?

my temps are
CPU 1: 40c , 58c under load CPU 2: 40c, 65c under load bottom of case: 35c top of case: 18c hard drive: 35c The first xeon is next to a 120mm sunon fan and bolth are water cooled with tap water. Last edited by no m$; 04-07-2004 at 07:49 PM. |

No you cannot pour either freon or liquid oxygen into your water cooling setup.
Both of those are liquified gases, which require a compressor and higher pressure lines amongst other things. The only practical way to get into refridgeration cooling would be to buy a prebuilt kit or barebones case. But that should not be nessasary since you already have a water cooling setup. Are there any air pockets in your water lines? Does the pump have sufficient capacity? How big is the radiator that is attached to the water cooling setup, and is it cooled by a fan? Is any of the water cooling setup affected by mineral deposits, which you may get from tap water, you should use distilled water coupled with some anti-corrosion agent for this. |

No M$, you cant use tap water, you must used distilled water in a water cooling setup. Otherwise you end up with mineral deposits everywhere, and if you spring a leak with regular water it will fry everything. I use the AQ II, like you do and i have a Tt smart fan on the radiator. I get about 44-45c under load, but i already bought a Swiftech block to replace the Tt one, im then going to get a Danger Den radiator and a new swiftech pump, then switch all the lines from 1/4 to 1/2. I expected better form the AQ II, ill tell you how it goes when i install the swiftech tomorrow.
