I just installed new stick of pc 133 128mb that is supposed to handle CAS 2. Now at every boot up I get the message to change my latency from CAS 2 to CAS 3. I don't have any apparent problem. Should I change it to CAS 3 or is the performance gain worth sticking to CAS 2. Are there any tests I can run to check if the system can handle it?

Yes, the performance gain is worth it, especially in memory intensive apps (games, photo/audio/video stuff, etc.).
Go into your BIOS, and see if there's a setting to override the defaults and manually set 2/2/2 CAS latency. If you get failed boots, lockups, blue screens, etc., then your RAM apparently can't handle CAS2. If it can't and you paid for CAS2 RAM, I'd start looking for a refund from who you bought it from, or a replacement... Xayd |
