CPU P4 "B" Ratio

I have a 2.4Ghz "B" P4 and I am wondering if a 1:1 ratio or a 5:4 ratio would give me better performance for editing, I know that P4's arent affected as much by this as are AMD's but I just want to know. Oh I have 512mb Kingston pc2700 cas2.5.

A 1:1 ratio is always the best. The only way you will get that though is with 2 sticks of PC2100 in dual channel configuration.

If the motherboard doesnt support dual channel, then you are out of luck i'm afraid. But if you get lots of PC2700 for that processor you should still get great performance.

Setup a test, try it using both setting, see which one is faster for your application and use that.

If this is an Intel 845E/PE/G/GE-based or SiS 645DX-based motherboard, run the ram at 166, it will respond very well.
