Geil RAM will not run on stock voltage?

On another forum I was told this in a reply:

"Ok, if you plan on going with Geil, just remember that you'll probably have to increase the RAM voltage in BIOS before you boot up, and each time you flash the BIOS thereafter. I use PC3500 Geil on my 865PE motherboard, and it works fine as long as I increase the voltage to about 2.7 or 2.8. The computer won't boot at the default voltage of 2.5."

Is this true? That Geil RAM has to have a higher voltage? He says that he had this issue with 3500 RAM. I was thinking maybe it is a problem with the faster RAM, but I have no other info to go on. If anyone could give me a yes or no on this pleaae?

i think only corsair has the LED activity lights. The only GeIL I've ever seen has a small label on it that shows temperature readouts, but due to the way the ram mounts it's useless!

geil golden dragon uses LEDs, but not to the extreme like the corsair does. the reason geil needs higher voltage is because they use their own memory chips...they dont use samsung, winbond, infineon, etc. the sweet spot for geil is usually about 3.0-3.3V.
