Exclamation PC clock faster than normal

I don't know whats wrong, but my pc clock is faster than normal. I'm not sure if I've ask this before. But After 2 weeks of "fast clock", its normal. Now its back. After 5 hours, the clock is 9 mins faster than normal time. The clock at the xp start bar.
Anyone know how to solve this problem?

You can double-click on the clock, then click the tab called "internet time" This gives you the option of synching your clock with an internet clock.

The battery on your motherboard might be getting weak. It makes the motherboard remember the time when you are powered down.

The sync is on, but when I update it, the clock reverts to normal. Sync does not sync all the time. The pc is always on.
Low bat? Is that it?

hhmm weird , but i was told a pc-clock which runs faster is due to a new battery ...but i might be mistaking..
is it a new pc? from this year?
i know f.e. that my new build also ran a faster clock(few minutes /hour) , but now after few months it's gone

Cool

My PC with Asus A7N8X Deluxe gains about 3 minutes a day. My wifes PC with Asus A7N8X-X keeps accurate time. Both PC's run XP. I have the tic mark in XP to synchronize time with windows.com I don't know the schedule but last time it synchornized was 4-21-04

You can change how often your clock sync's with this registry tweak:

If the PC is always on, the power supply unit keeps the clock up to date, not the battery. So the battery is probably not the problem. It would only be a low cost solution to try.

With the new information you have provided, it's more likely that there is some kind of problem with the motherboard. You can either live with or replace the motherboard.

You have a more unusual problem in that the clock is too fast. It is more normal for clocks to run too slow, because they can get bogged down by intensive system activity.

The pc is on 24/7, I only restart it. Yeah I can live with it.
Now the clock is back to normal. Here is what I found out,
Spybot is the culprit. There is one of the updates which is not recommended 256k(no check mark), where when I install it, it takes a long time to install the update, the pc becomes slow when spybot is on. I uninstall, delete everything, reinstall, &reupdate without that piece of update file. The pc is working fine now.
