Help on Post test

Hi,

got a bit of a funny problem here.
Whenever i build a machine it usually works fine. ie post test works fine.
If I swap internals and put some parts in another machine, or move the machine to a new location, during the post test, it will beep rapidly, up until windows xp is loaded.

All internals are fine. The beeps happen so quickly you cant count how many beeps there are.

Once XP is loaded, everything works fine.....

Why is the PCs making such beep codes?
Its getting annoying, and i want to solve the problem.
I dont want to disconnect the small speaker connection just to stop it. I like hearing the post test, when it sounds normal.
Right now, im not getting any valuable information from the post tests....as the continous beeping drowns everything out...

Anyone any ideas what this rapid beeping during post test means?

Any help appreciated,

thanks,

Zinedene

you should get one beep for each usb device connected.
when I boot mine up , I get 7 short beeps and I have that many usb devices.
its normal and all is ok.

hi,

yeah, i get loads of beeps during post, probably about 20-30 during post

Wierd thing is, it happens so fast, their is no chance of even trying to count them.

Its hapenning with 4 different mobos, they all work fine, but insist on making this noise. All mobo will boot up etc, its just that they continously beep, until the OS is loading.

Sometimes its just easier to turn the speaker connector off, but i thought somebody out there might know what is causing this to happen...

thanks,

Zinedene
