New Build Problems (pls help)

Hello,
My friend currently went out and bought a bunch of stuff and now I'm helping him out placing the parts together for him. The problem that I am having is that after everything has been put together, when I turn on the power it starts up fine however the video card doesnt seem to be working. The monitor doesnt get a signal at all.
card- radeon 9200. - agp slot
motherboard- intel 865pe pro
processor- intel pentium 4 2.8 ghz
memory- 512
powersupply- 350 watts

i even tried my older nvidia geforce 4 64mb card but still same result. can anyone help pls. i have already double checked to make sure the card was placed in correclt and tightly. pls help and thanks in advance.
i also get no beeps or anything as well. i am pretty certain that the board isnt shorting out because i tested it with ony the cpu, video card, memory on the motherboard box and still same result.

do you get any beeps from the case speaker? you are meant to get beeps if the information cannot be displayed on the screen. do you know the monitor works? this is a "i think" post, you looked lonely.

y33v: Welcome to PCMech! Hmm... i am not sure about your problem. But i think PSU watts is too low for that. That's what i'm thinking of

y33v, welcome to PCMech! I agree with human1987. Try getting a larger and better quality PSU. That will probably fix the problem. thorlo6

350W is plenty of power, especially for just board + ram + cpu + graphics card.
As long as that is a quality PSU you'll be fine. More than 350W would be a waste unless you get an nVidia 6800.

What brand PSU is it ? Have you tried another one ?

the power supply is a turbolink power supply. i have no idea if that is any good though. but i am pretty sure the cord in the back of the monitor is not loose.

Turbolink? Never heard of them, but I'm already suspicious. Try a different PSU.

I had a problem like this as well, recently. My fix was that my two memory modules were incompatible, and as a result I had to return one to get the comp to boot to the point of the monitor receiving current from the vid card. Not sure if that is what is wrong with yours, but thought I'd share.

Follow the troubleshooting instructions from the first post of this thread and let us know what happens. You must remove the motherboard from the case when doing this procedure.

actually i have already done that and still same results. but the thing is that my computer is old so my motherboard doesnt supprot ddram and agp so i cant test his ram and video card to see if they are defective or not.

If the motherboard is good, you would get BIOS beeps if there is a problem with the video or RAM. Since you're getting no beeps, the problem could be the motherboard, CPU or power supply. I would try another power supply first since TurboLink is a rebadged DEER (really bad brand). You're plugging in the extra square 4 pin 12v power connector onto the motherboard right? Without it, the motherboard won't boot up.

And exactly which motherboard is that? Is it a Intel motherboard or another brand?

yea i made sure the 4pin connector is plugged in. i really hope it is the power supply. the monther borad is an intel 865pe pro. if tried it without the fan on for anout 5 secs and the cpu got hot really fast. i thought with that the cpu would be running for sure. but i will really have to try a different psu. thanks. i will post results when i get the chance to try it.

Intel 865PE Pro? Are you sure it's not a Albatron 865PE Pro?
