Pioneer 106 dvd burner

I have got a problem with my system recognizing my dvd burner. I have a promise card with two IDE ports. I OS is win 2000 pro, My system is ASUS P4P800 with P4 2.4. I gig memory. I have tried everything I know to get my system to recogognize the dvd burner. On boot it always gives the message promise driver not install because no divice connected. How can I correct this. Thanks, Tom

Im guessing that you have the burner connected to the promise card.....if so, try connecting it to an ide port on the motherboard.
