Question

If ATA or UDMA33 is PIO Mode 3 at 33.3Mb/sec max burst, and ATA66 is PIO MOde 4at 66.6Mb/sec max burst; what data transfer rates were mode 1 and mode 2?

I'm just takin' a guess but they are probably for older drives that are not DMA capable and are there to keep backward compatibility. Just like you can also run the new ATA 100 drives on machines that only support 66 or even 33 and maybe even older non DMA supported systems.

i found out what the lower two are for, IDE and EIDE. Don't know what they stand for but the E in the latter would be the enhanced version. Just older means of data transfer but they are all backward compatible so far.
