Help my friend build his PC. Questions on Mobo and RAM.

My friend is buidling a pc and needs suggestions on motherboard and ram for his Pentium 2.4Ghz

He will have 512 ram. Need to know what ram is the fastest now. Please give suggestions.

What motherboard can you recommend for the fast or fastest ram and the abovementioned processor?

Also, what is the best ram he can get for ABIT IC7 Max3 motherboard?

Thanks.

How about the ASUS p4c800 deluxe, very good, especially for games. Maybe Kingson Hyper X memory.

Is he planning to overclock or not?? If you search this forum you'll find a few names continually pop up with regards good quality RAM, those being Kingston, Corsair, Geil and Mushkin. I've also heard OCZ recommended

is it a pentium C?

DDR400 / PC3200 should be fine if it is. And if you want to overclock get PC3500 or PC4000 depends on how much you want to overclock though.

make sure to get two sticks of 256 and put them in slot 0 so you can get some Hyperthreading going on.

Some older games don't work with HT though =(

It is okay though...

I think you mean dual channel. Hyperthreading would be supported by the mobo/processor.
