US is being attacked. World Trade Center (both towers) were struck by airplanes and have now both collapased. Another plane has crashed into the Pentagon and part of that has collapased. A car bomb has also exploded on capital hill.

This isn't only an attack against the U.S. it's an attack against the entire world. Terrorists everywhere and anywhere have to be completely wiped out along with their $%^#ed up thinking. It tends to illustrate what a mistake we made in letting Saddam Hussein survive. It's long enough we've been a doormat. I hope there's swift and total retaliation.

My deepest condolences to all those who have perished or been injured at the hands of the despicable cowards who perpetrated this depraved act of mass murder. I am sure we all have ideas of who is responsible, and those who protect them, but let us all wait for a proper investigation of the facts before anything is done. After all just one of the things that seperate us from these monsters is that we do not randomly slaughter innocents.

Yes. Everybody first thought it was Middle East terrorists who attacked the Federal Building in Oklahoma. Let's get all the facts first again and make those responsible burn in hell where they belong.

First off We all wish this didnt happen but it did and now theres not much we can do but remember and try to learn from it. My condolences to all that have lost.

Lets just remember we basically have NOTHING to go on at the moment we must wait and see how it unfolds. Also Im sure you already know this but that car bomb appears to not have actually happened but there have been other incedents like the crash near Pittsburg and Camp David but we need more information and facts almost everything other than that yes the WTC is GONE and both towers where hit by one of two different planes and that the Pentagon was damaged by something is all we really seem to know for absolute certain at the moment.

Wheels, if we kill Hussein Iran takes over Iraq, if you remember correctly we funded Iraq for quite some time for just that purpose- to prevent the expansion of Iran.

Anyone who claims credit for or expresses sympathy for such attacks should be randomly attacked like we were, that'll slow them down. If that were the policy of nations who happened to be objects of terrorism, these things would become alot more scarce.

A call for blood has been put out by the Red Cross.
Anyone living in the New York area, save a life, give a pint!
Call your local blood banks and see if your donation is needed.
I talk as an American, yes,I'd love to see total and complete retaliation.
But,right now let's do all we can to help the survivors.

Let's slow up the retaliation talk. Sure we want to get the bastards, but we want to get the right bastards.

A very sad tragedy. I would also like to tell everyone that New York Needs Blood. Those in Australia, if your able please DO.
There is a 1300 number to call if you need blood. It is the cost of a local call.
I was just watching the news on Australian Channel 9 (WIN in the Wollongong area). It is 9:40 PM. 1 Police Man and 5 Firefighters were found. Channel 9 connected to CNN to give us that report. Thank God.

I hope much much more are found over the US morning and the Australian night. I will pray for the people and their families.

A CALL TO ARMS. . . .

America is more than likely on the brink of opening a Pandora's Box the full scope of which no one is capable of even approximating. Retaliation is inevitable. The blatant and wanton sacrifice of thousands of innocents in a horrendous display meant to paralyze the country and its people, cannot go unnoticed or unanswered. When the pieces are in place and the stage set, the people's wish will be granted. It is indeed a frightful time when both governments and people thirst for destruction. In such an aspect are we all the same. I need not point out trite concepts of cycles and endless circles, I leave that to you.

But, families will mourn the loss of brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, and so on, and they will blame America just as we have them. And are they any less innocent than us? Our cause is just, as all warriors must remind themselves, but war is always a senseless slaughter of innocents and very rarely is the core issue resolved. If this is not obvious from only the wars that America has been involved in, then it is a dimly lit world in which you reside.

In one aspect will I agree our cause is "just". Our attitudes toward foreign countries have lately been, more than often, a willingness to help. And the response we have received lately, more than often, is that of vicious scorn and absolute hatred, not only by the governments, but also by the actual individual citizens. I would sincerely hope that United States citizens, or any citizen of the world, would never stoop to that level of despise, where his or her revenge outweighed their life or more importantly, the lives of others, guilty or not. In light of the constant and abundant hatred, America has always tried to act as moral mediator, a position that always has loyal supporters and opponents. Never have American citizens, though, had such a lust for blood. Never have we stooped to the level of these horrible countries that rejoice and sing in the wholesale slaughter of innocents, innocents that only happen to be symbols of the power that they truly hate. Even when the US Government engaged in the campaign to cleanse communism, the people knew what was moral and right. Until now.

Retaliation is inevitable. The people will have what they want. The hatred of both cultures will be pointed at intangible targets, and, in the end, the innocents will be mistaken as the targets. If you think from these arguments that I am against war, you are only partially mistaken. We will attack, we will kill, we will destroy. I am not against these things, be that they are aimed at the people who have wronged us.

This is only from the view of one who has seen too many innocent souls needlessly discarded to fruitless causes. You are free and encouraged to disagree.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

The individual acts of terrorism against the United States have and will continue to escalate in magnitude unless the entire movement is halted. The first step I imagine is to find and exterminate Usama bin Laden. Hopefully with the figurehead gone, momentum will disappear from the *crusade as happened with Atilla and more recently Hitler. Any further uprising of terrorist activity must then be dealt with just as swiftly and severely. It may take a while, but we will win... and without stooping to their methods.

This is going to be longer than any of us can know. The acts that where done hear in the USA will not go undelt with. I have no doubt in that I do think they need to make shur they get the right ones, but I think killing them is to good for them. But to let them live would alow this to happen again. My fear is there had to be some one hear in the US that helped them some one that was one of our own. It makes me sick to think that anyone could do a thing like this. This is a very sad time indeed. My heart goes out to all. Lets help each other through this time of need.

Perhaps I do need to elaborate on the "trite concepts of cycles and endless circles." To removing one enemy only leaves the position open to another despot. There is no end. Ever. Nor will those enemies, upon attaining their position, relinquish it quietly or peacefully.

There is no solution. You absolutely cannot deal with the situation as a whole for every person is capable of unimaginable evil, even (perhaps especially, since they know not what they do) children. Anyone who argues against this plain, simple truth, is idealistic. To deal with the situation as a whole, would be resulting to indiscriminate genocide, which, given to himself, Hitler would have undoubtedly worked up to. Which leads to the next argument.

Hitler did not give up. He only killed himself to prevent capture from the Russians, which would have resulted in a more excruciating, and perhaps just, death than he gave himself. Nor did Germany stop because of his death. The camps still ran, valiantly upholding the honor and dignity of the Third Reich. I should not have to explain, but to some quaint folk who might not read much, this is an example of irony. This shows that once people attain a seat of power, they will not give it up, and once they do, there is always a sick legion of people willing to make martyrs out of murderers. The more pronounce the murderer, the more radical the followers and the more likely a more ruthless murderer will take the existing one's seat. So, one cannot deal with the problem as individual cases.

The war against war will never succeed. I, more than most, do not like admitting this but fighting in ignorance is sometimes far worse. As for sinking to the enemy's methods: we will. They will take different forms, but whatever name the means take on, the end is all the same. If you do not believe me, the proof is all above me. Read the posts.

"It is my wish that once the cowards are unearthed that retribution is swift and unmerciful!!"

"Anyone who claims credit for or expresses sympathy for such attacks should be randomly attacked like we were, that'll slow them down."

"I hope there's swift and total retaliation."

"make sure that those TERRORIST get what they deserve .!"

To borrow a trite phrase, "History is written by the victor." Our methods of death and destruction become noble and the enemy's are atrocities. America will stoop to the lowest level in order to achieve its goals. This, in of itself, is not evil. We have all walked this path. When it becomes evil is when the need for vengeance overrides all reasonable morals, when we exist only to exact revenge. We have all walked this path, too. The pertinent question is "will the United States be able to walk back up the path?" It is a silly question, but entire countries have fallen by failing to do this.

Again, I do not like admitting this, nor am I chastising, but the people MUST know that they are no more moral or immoral than the enemy they are dealing with. This atrocity has shaken me more than most any event. Short of being a victim or survivor, I do not think I could feel worse. But this talk of righteousness must stop. Vengeance is not noble, but is needed and well deserved.

I truly am sorry for having to write this, all of this, but I believe I know what people start thinking when these things happen, and I believe I know where it leads if left alone.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

I certainly agree with the idea that we must get as much of the facts as possible before anything is done. But as well as justice must be seen to be served, the punishment must fit the crime. Unfortunately I know from experience that appeasing terrorists, as we in the UK have done with the IRA, only breeds contempt. We in the UK share your grief and your desire for justice as this was an attack on all nations as the death toll will show that as well as American citizens there will be between 200-500 Britons who have lost their lives and thousands from approximately 21 different countries.
