World Trade Center

Well, hopefully none of our members work at the Pentagon or the World Trade Center. Pretty sad.

Terrible, terrible events.

As we watch with horror as events unfold, I am sure that all UK members of the forum will agree that we send our sympathies and condolences to the thousands of innocent American people who have lost loved ones in this outrage.

We've seen Terrorism before, but never on this scale. It is truly appalling. No cause or Religion can possibly justify taking this sort of inhuman action.

The sort of people who perpetrate acts like this have no heart, no soul, and feel not the slightest bit of remorse for the hundreds of innocent people that may be killed or injured.

Truly, sad and shocking.

Angry Fire

Words can't discribe this sick act, it is something that would only really see in action movies but never actually expect to happen in real life.
My deepest condolances go out to the people over in New York, it's sick!

You want really sick, I just heard on the news they are celebrating in the streets of Jerulsalem.... you gotta have something wrong upstairs. Just saw the video and it all seems so unreal. What cowards to attack the innocent.

1)Why werent there airforce planes after the first attack?
2)How can airport authorities allow FOUR hijacks in the same hour much less same day???

Yeah i saw that video .. made me sick .. I've never felt the chill down my spine as much as I saw when that 2nd tour collapsed live in front of my eyes

I hope you and yours are all safe over there. It's absolutely incredible. Been watching the T.V. at work most of the afternoon (started at about 2 in the afternoon our time)and seen all the footage, including the 737 going into the second tower and both the collapses.

We've had our share of terrorism here, but never anything on this scale.

Chris.

I still can not believe this is real. I have come close to tears this entire morning. For the lives lost, and people survived, and their families. I say a prayer for them.
Today is a day never to be forgotten in American History.
I hope all of you and your families are safe.
I thank God mine are.

Statica,
I agree with you.

Definitely our Intelligence is not looking too intelligent right now. Think about it though, 4 planes hijacked (some have said more than 4) from different airports. The hijackers had to have weapons aboard the plane, most likely guns. What else could force a pilot to fly the plane into a building. A bomb wouldn't do it because if the pilot were going to die, he would try to lessen the impact of the crash. I would also be willing to bet that there was more than one guy on each plane trying to hijack it. One of them would have to have some flying experience. So how does one smuggle guns aboard planes in several different airports within minutes of each other?

Yeah, they were rejoicing and passing out candy, in celebration on the steets in Palestine. I also see that Afganistan has come out expressing their sorrow about this. Even though the person that probably masterminded it is one of their outstanding citizens. Maybe time to stockpile some gasoline.

My cousin works on Wall Street fine. My prayers to those who are there.

Yeah there is so much of a security hole. 3 weeks ago bin laden threatened the US. Nothing done! Tomorrow Sept 12th was supposed to be sentencing day for one of his associates from the embassy .. the sentencing was to be in NYC!!

This is ridiculous .. 8 yrs ago bin laden was identified as a terrorist and yet havent been able to pry him out!!

This is really the Pearl Harbor of the new century.

Is is absolutley sureal. All day I've felt that whatever I'm doing is so miniscule to what is happening in NYC and Washington DC that I'm sick to my stomach.

To throw blame around right now is just not worth it -- no matter what we know about every terrorist group on the planet, this would have happened if they wanted it badly enough. All it would take is one lunatic with a ceramic knife to force is way into the cockpit of those planes and kill the pilots. It could have happened so quietly and suddenly, people on board may not have even known what was going on.

May God have mercy on the souls of those responsible, because we wont.

My father worked at the World Trade Center for 10 years, luckily he switched jobs a couple of years ago. He worked in the tower that collapsed first (south on the 38th floor. It was surreal watching the building collapse before my eyes since I've spent a lot of time in those offices with my dad over the years.

This is worse than Pearl Harbor. Whatever was said about the Japanese at the time, they came in with insignia showing, and attacked soldiers and sailors on military bases. The Japanese had honor. These guys are just cowards without honor. If any of you read this answer a simple question: what's the point if your not going to tell us who you are, and why you did it? Your people died in vain unless the rest of the world is told who you are.

Afghanistan and Palestine are lucky I'm not President. At this point I might be giving both an ultimatum, turn over bin Laden and all of his henchmen by sundown or don't expect anyone in either country to see the next sunrise. People forget that our parents did nuke Nagasaki and Hiroshima. We still have 30,000 of the damn things and a lot of people who know how to use them. It wouldn't take much for Afghanistan to become a vacant glassed over parking lot. I'll probably regret what I just said, but man I'm angry. I too watched as the plane hit the second tower and as both towers fell.

Afganastan terrorists - highly possible
Hezbolla terrororits - possible
terrorists from anypart of the world - possible
terrorists from within - possible

I have to re-emphasised what Audioya said. Let logistics and technology reveal the truth first then blister in with unforgiving force.

All you possible need to pull something like this off is 1 strong man in each plane. Bust into the cockpit and kill with his bare hands or whatever he can get his hands on.

I may be wrong in presenting a theory here but I am assuming all the pilots were killed immediately. People can take control of a pilots controls but they can't take off by themselves. And the hijacks began shortly after take off. Cos no matter if the pilots were under the gun they would have went directly to clear areas as much as possible whenever possible.

Unhappy

My prayers go out to the families of the victims of this horrible tragedy. There can be no excuse for such attrocious acts.

I believe that the 3 planes that were crashed into buildings must have been piloted by the hijackers. I tend to believe that the fourth one was still under control of the pilot of the plane, thus the crash into a wooded, unpopulated area. Possibly the hijackers were trained commercial airline pilots from foreign nations, put in place and trained over the years for just such an attack.

You all are right we should wait for the truth, but we shouldn't forget about today like we have so many times in the past. This is not a matter of punishing a few criminals, this is a matter of protecting America. Protecting America is the first priority of any American government. In this case shooting first and asking questions later would provide us with better protection than letting our government bungle a slow moving "investigation" only to conclude that there is nothing that can be done without adversely affecting our economic interests, or in the alternative, to shoot a few cruise missiles at camps we have warned to evacuate so nobody important gets hurt. We should put unrelenting pressure on our "leaders" to identify the enemy and to employ overwhelming force on all involved, from the guys at the top (and their governmental sponsors) down to the "true believers" in training. Since 8:45 this morning we have been at war. Its time to identify the enemy. The next step would be to close with the enemy. The next step would be to pound the enemy until they either no longer exist or they surrender (their choice-I don't care). I haven't been this angry in years.

Well, I just got home from school and we basically watched CNN all day long and and saw it all happen. Unreal, is all I have to say, just unreal. I just find it funny that a threat was made weeks back and no one and nothing was done. Just like statica I saw that second building collapse live on the TV. Guess all this kinda proves that you can't predict the unpredictable.

My prayers go out to all the victims and families.

I've always agreed with that policy. Even if you can't track down who did it, strike at any organization that applauds it, that could make such attacks in the future easier to prevent even, as the fear of the backlash within organizations not involved causes fighting amongst these groups.

There is no need to identify the enemy. They have refused to identify the enemy from the civilian.. so be it! I know there is a time for discretion, but this isnt a homicide investigation, there is war, those of you that have advocated investigations should consider it. Those that perpetrated this attack werent discretionary. So there are scattered reports and there are conjectures, my view is go on them .. right or wrong. Had they done it at least once in the past decade maybe this and others like this couldve been averted.

Technology is at a stage where it doesnt need to be a weapon of mass destruction like a nuclear weapon. It just needs to be a repeated barrage without mercy. Enough with the food for oil policy! When the dust settles make the oil wells part of the UN.

I wasnt so "violent" about this till I saw videos of Palestinians celebrating. Any person who celebrates human misery like that is no more human than an amoeba. Sure there have been casualties at war, but never such a celebration on a human toll. I mean what did it mean to them. In all these years I've hated the US policy of continued military presence in a lot of places in the world and a lot of interventions, now I find myself wanting someone to end these cowardly acts against the way of our life

I heard about it at school, and during my computer class i found out what i could from the internet, although everything was slow around 11am.

Ive been watching the video on tv since about 4pm.

As someone said above, all the things you do seem small and insignificant, i was thinking this during my classes today.

This event is soo sad and horrifing, it hasnt really sunk in yet, and i dont know if it ever will.
