The Escalation Begins...
Another missile was reported to have hit the Kabul office of a United Nations (news - web sites)-funded demining group, a crucial project in one of the world's most heavily mined countries, killing four men who worked there.
With U.S. warplanes returning home to their bases, Iranian President Mohammad Khatami (news - web sites) called for an immediate end to the strikes. ``Thousands of people should not be killed under the pretext of fighting terrorism, and innocent and oppressed people should not be sacrificed to aggression,'' he said.
