Canada or Mexico??
They say we need more border patrol along Canada/USA border to stop suspected terrorists. For some politically correct (or financial) reason, they are ignoring the REAL entry point.

What the author of the article does not understand is that the US-Mexican border is already very well controled, due to the drug traffic and ilegal imnmigrants problems. The US-Canada border in not guarded at all.
If I were a terrorist, planning to enter the US unnoticed, I would definitively go to the Canada border, instead of taking chances in the Mexican border. (That is what Bruce Willis did in the film "Chacal", for a reason) Just my two cents. |

Say what?!? The US-Mexican border isn't "controlled" except by the illegals. Border Patrol actually puts water out for them in strategic places. You can't go anywhere in Texas without tripping over someone who doesn't hablar Inglis. The 2 breaking into my toolshed didn't hablar Inglis, but they understood the sound of a hammer being engaged on a .44. Makes a nice click

I live in the area referred to in the URL. I agree the border is only controlled by the illegals. INS is a bad joke in this area. I could (and perhaps will) write a book about the subject. I Agree that a hammer makes illegals sit up and take notice as does being hit by a laser sight, but my favorite is two large unfriendly dogs who dislike anyone coming on foot.

I don't think INS, or any other law enforcement group, is going to be able to stop any terrorists. The border is just too big, and any additional guards are just going to be there to make the taxpayers feel good.
Kinda like the national guards in airports. They make the taxpayers feel good, but they're true antiterrorist value is dubious at best. Just a REALLY expensive security blanket. |

It is also a well know fact that persons coming from non hispanic countries have much more money to pay "Coyottes" (people who help illegals cross for a fee) for safe passage, often offering several thousand dollars to as much as 10 or 20 thousand. The Coyotte doesn't care what a person's motives are, just the color of his money. Some suspect that some of the money occasionaly finds its way to certain persons on this side, also.
