Talking about "harbouring" terrorists
Hypocricy?
Are there some better terrorists than any other? Arab terrorists are no good, but any other are GOOD for United States Of America? These 2 pics you see- are 2 TERRORISTS: ![]() ![]() October'70, these 2(lithuanians- by nationality, just like I am) hijacked a Soviet passanger plane, made pilots fly them to Turkey. During flight one of hijackers shot to death stewardess of the plane. 24 years old stewardess dead- just like in WTC . Around 1976 they came to United States Of America. They lived in California, Santa Monica(is it far from there Ron, to judge about terrorists?) What comes around- goes around. Father killed during hijack a stewardess, some 30+ years later son-terrorist killed father-terrorist. They both(TERRORISTS) resided in US for more than 30 years. What comes around- goes around: You let terrorists stay- terrorists come back(WTC, does religion or faith matter here?). Should US bomb Santa Monica, CA- just like Afganistan? At least one terrorist(alive) still there. After all that can US be the country that does NOT support/harbour terrorist? Or someone who hijacks the plane and kills a stewardess isn't a terrorist at all? Last edited by Gintaras; 02-12-2002 at 12:00 AM. |

Yes G....They are terrorist just like the rest, but tell me, just what do you propose we do about the situation we have put ourselves in? After what happened 9-11 I seriously think it will be hard to get in the country with any criminal record whatsoever, and I think it should be even tougher then what they will make it....Can you name one "Hypocricy" you would rather live in then the USA?!?!?! Didnt think so......

Hipocricy or not?
Quote:
Soviets in 70's asked extradition of these 2 just like United States asked Afganistan to give-out Bin Lade. Quote:
(really it isn't funny). How do you suppose to change people since people don't want to change? Quote:
"Accept this and let IT happen again". And I guess, with your perception: "IT will never happen in your own backyard- just someone's else, so what the reason to worry about." Can someone tell the difference: These 2(father and son) terrorists hijacked passenger plane, killing stewardess. These 2 lived happily after(after '76) in US. Soviet goverment asked US goverment to give-out these 2 terrorists. US said NO. Bin Laden(as it accussed) commited terrorist act on US soil. US goverment asked Afganistan to give-out Bin Laden. Afganistan says NO. |

That's hardly the most hypocritical thing we've done in our war with terrorism.
Hell, the US has probably given more direct aid to terrorist groups than any other nation, ever. Under the guise of "liberating" other countries, we have supplied vast amounts of training, money, and weapons to organizations that could be counted as terrorists. The US acts out of self preservation, and out of a desire to push the best interests of the nation. But, unlike other nations, we have, in the past 60 years or so, developed an interesting phenomena -- a string sense of moral superiority, which, at this point, has taken on a life of its own. Every war, every conflict, every controversial law passed must at least have the illusion that it is designed to promote morality, goodness, freedom, etc. Some really do, some are only done for the best interests of the US, and if anyone else benefits, so much the better. And now, anyone who speaks out against the hypocrisy or the shallow lip service paid to morality is considered "unpatriotic", as if a patriot should find no fault with his government. It's sad, the state the nation has gotten itself into in the past 50 years. It's very interesting to look, starting pre-WW2 to present, and examine the ideas about how America fits into the global scheme of things. We've become very arrogant, very self-centered, and have developed a huge superiority complex. Most Americans are nearly completely ignorant about 90% of the foreign affairs that our contry is involved in. I guess all we can do is, as citizens, try to stay informed about world affairs (a LOT of things happen that don't air on CNN, people), and try to show our patriotism by working to IMPROVE our country, not blindly ignoring all its imperfections, and declaring reason to be treason.

Paul,
Better said that I ever could myself. Quote:
What is WORST, US couldn't learn from own mistakes and now supports NA. Quote:
It's a joke when I see people driving with US flags on their cars: "United We Stand". When it comes to getting $$$ from the WTC funds, all the "Unity" disappears .Why do you think Hollywood now hates so much O'Reilley? Quote:
I's suggest to watch BBC World News, Deutsche Welle, French News on PBS chanels. Some things you'll see there might be completely different from these on CNN, especially about Mid East. About IMPROVE comment, If you're a regular Joe, you might be called a treasor, if you're running for Office, people might be clapping you with their both hands up for the very same. That's unfortunatelly, majority's mentality. Last edited by Gintaras; 02-16-2002 at 07:45 PM. |

From fearless to fearful. All it took was kooks with boxcutters. They undid 200 years of history.
