Question Who Uses Hide-It?

Do you use Hide-It to keep the console windows off your taskbar?

The page linked to from the Info To Know thread says it is for Win95 and NT... Does it work just as well for XP?

How'd it work for you, and why'd you stop using it?

I found that I liked running F@H as a service, leaving nothing to hide or needing extra proggies to hide it.

I use Hide-it with WinXP Pro. It works as advertised. I use it to keep my taskbar clutter free and to prevent family members from closing the F@H.

I have to close out and reopen my clients occasionally to get them to send results (I'm on dial-up), so running as a service would make that more difficult to do, wouldn't it? With Hide-It, you can still easily get to them by double-clicking the Hide-It tray icon, right?

hmm... running as a service and dialup, I dunno you might want to stick with Hide-It or Tray-It unless you go with the gah preference.

I forget you're on dialup and I wasn't really suggesting you run F@H as a service, I was only stating why I stopped using Hide-It.

gotcha gotcha, just curious. Running it as a service makes it pretty much hands-off and you just monitor with EMIII at that point, ya?

Yes, I just started running F@H as a service the other day, and it seems to be moving faster already . Thanks to Lil' Jimmie for putting me on to that by mentioning it, and thanks to you Kov for providing the link in your "Folding FAQ" thread .

Yup, I just install it as a service, share the folder (if it's on the network) and monitor it with EMIII and use TightVNC to access or make any changes to my little farm. I really don't know if it is much faster or not it's just my preference, but if you have multiple users logging in and logging off it comes in handy to run F@H as a service.

Can you explain how to run f@h as a service, i'm running it on a family computer and that means that I can do even more folding. (I'm on XP Home if that makes a difference)
