games minimized when folding

Have a problem with games minimizing or otherwise not cooperating when F@H. Have to quit F@H to keep games from being affected. (Then forget to restart.) Am running graphical client. Would it help to run as a console or service? Any ideas? Apologies if I do not respond quickly to posts....

It is a very common problem for gamers that run the GUI version and yes the text console or service would be the prefered methods to fold and game.

I run 2 instances of the text console on my main rig while I play FarCry, UT04 and BVN and have no problems with crashes or performance.

Thanks for the response. How would I go about switching from the GUI to the text or service?

Here's the link to run it as a service. Download the text client to do so.

I just waited until I finished and sent my current WU, and then dumped my F@H folder. Then I configured the F@H Text client, and went through the procedures in the above link, and started running it as a service.

You can actually delete the FAH.exe file and drop the FAHConsole.exe in the same folder and it will pick up where you left of as long as you don't delete any of the work folders. Just change the shortcut to point to the new .exe file and you will be running the console.

Thanks for the reply. I did do this. The console version gives a window. To hide it, this is where the third party programs come in? Such as EMIII or others I have seen? Or making it a service?

To hide the text console you can use either Hide-It or Tray-It or run it as a service. I have seen the option to hide it with EMIII but I have never used this feature.

I dunno bout that nor do I recall seeing anything about the GUI as a service, I stopped using the GUI version cause it caused too many problems so my knowledge with it is almost nil.

I would think that you would be able to, but I haven't seen anything saying that you definitely can. If you want to run it as a service, just download the text client, and replace the .exe in your F@H directory. Then follow the guide on running F@H as a service.
