Yes, it will still work. F@H only need internet access for submitting and recieving WU's. That's only after a WU has been completed.

Each client also has a queue of up to 10 completed folds. You may want to use EMIII to monitor your clients, as it will tell you how many each client has in queue.
I don't know how easy it is to interact with clients when they are run as a service. I find with my dial-up I have to manually restart clients with a connection already made to get them to send their info sometimes. I have to turn EMIII off on the computer making the connection, as it automatically shuts down the connection when the second frame of a protein has been reached. This is usually before the results have been completely sent...

I think it's probably better to just use the console versions. You could always use Hide-It or Tray-It to get rid of the box on your task bar if that's a consideration. It would still be easy to get back into the programs and manipulate them as needed. EMIII's still a good idea if you're not using it yet.

i do use EMII and its great. but is there some way to have it on one machine and be able to see other box's on other machines over a network other than putting the folding@home folder in the sharded docs folder or by sharring the F@H folder? or is that the only 2 ways?

In EMIII, go into options, then click on the browse button next to the "box path" field. You can browse for your clients on other boxes in the network. Then just assign a name to the box and the CPU, and it should display for you.

yes, but you have to have the folder shared or the other computer wont see it. either that or share the whole HDD.

Yes, you have to share the folder and I don't think there is anyway around it, but don't share the HDD only the F@H folder.

If you hide it EM won't see it also if there is a password you will have to logon with a password to access the folders on the network, but that is how I have mine. I'm running XP on all with set permissions on the folders so that only I or the true admin can make any changes to the folder.
