System Not Connecting for New Units

My computer is having some issues with Folding. This happened recently, so I have a hunch it might be SP2 for Windows XP. I never had any issues prior. I finished a unit a while ago, and it sent in the information. However, it has not downloaded a new unit for days now. If I open the client, it tells me "Couldn't get work instructions". It will attempt to reconnect every so often but its always the same message. I checked the log file and I have lots of the following:

18:46:19] - Error: Attempt #10 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
[19:29:06] + Attempting to get work packet
[19:29:06] - Connecting to assignment server
[19:29:11] Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)
[19:29:11] + Could not connect to Assignment Server
[19:29:16] Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)
[19:29:16] + Could not connect to Assignment Server 2
[19:29:16] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[19:29:16] - Error: Attempt #11 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

Any ideas? TIA

What client?

Have you tried rebooting?

It is the graphical client of Folding 4.00. It has been a couple weeks now, and the system has been rebooted many times during that period. Since it has been so long, I feel like its my system.

Try upgrading your client. The current version is 5.02.

I have upgraded to Graphical Client 5.02. No luck.

I tried fiddling with Windows Firewall since I think SP2 might be affecting it. I set Folding@Home as an Exception to the firewall, no luck. I went to "Add Port" and told Windows to open port 8080 which Folding uses. I tried the port as TCP and UDP. No luck.

I want to keep folding for the team but I just keep getting "Couldn't get work instructions."

Thanks for the help thus far, any other ideas?

Try the console version, it's not as pretty but I have it working on a box that has SP2 on it.

When you configured the client, did you select Yes for "Use IE Settings"? Maybe that got switched around somehow - maybe that will work...

I was fiddling around with various settings. I unchecked the box that says "Use IE Settings" but did not check the one to use a Proxy. So both options are blank. I restarted F@H and it downloaded a unit.

For some reason the pie chart is about 1/6 of a circle but the frames completed are 0/2500. Hopefully that is just a glitch that will fix itself.

I'll let you all know how it goes...

Fingers crossed

My system downloaded a new unit last night. So apparently everything is ok now.
