Folding taking up over 198mb of memory
I'm using the console version of the folding program. My computer recently locked up and i had to restart it. It was folding at the time but that wasn't the cause for the lock up. Anyways, once it started back and ever since then it's been using up about 198mb of memory. Thats way too much seeing as how i only have 1 stick of 512mb. In the windows task manager theres two instances of it in the processes tab. they are both named FahCore_78.exe. One of them is SYSTEM(65mb) and the other is under my account(133mb). Why is it eating up that much memory? It hadn't before my computer locked up. Whats going on?

Alright, i did that and now it's working fine. How do i bring the console up tho? I see it running the task manager because i had it set up to start as a service when window starts up.

According to FAH forums, it's possible that you started a second instance over the top of the one that is your service. Possibly you have a shortcut in your startup menu or you just manually started one on accident.

in the "configure-->connection" tab, there is an option for large work units or something.... i don't know if disabling that would help. incidentally, i've noticed a couple of work units recently taking over 100 mb of memory, although 198 is way higher than anything i've seen yet. as kov-ice said, if you are running it as a service, make sure *not* to start it again when you get into windows, unless you have a hyperthreading p4. otherwise it will cause a lot of problems.
