A new update came out today for EMIII (v3.0.5). If you aren't using this program to monitor your Folding@Home progress, you should check it out. It give you lots of info on what your clients are up to, and you can monitor multiple clients on multiple machines. Go HERE for the download page.

In the upper right hand corner of EMIII, there's a little white square called 'View Change.' You can pull that down and choose from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, or 13 clients. I'd assume up to 13 would be the max, although if you have less than the format number you select, it will still show them all.

yeah, i know about that, but along with that if you have more than the number you select then you can scroll down to see the rest so would it allow you to do the same with over 13??

Checked at the folding-forums, and the upper end is 100 clients! That's with NT/2K/XP. With 95/98/ME, the top is 50. Hopefully you'll need that many at your school.

Are you installing on all 98 machines or older? You may want to have one machine in each lab that monitors just those machines. May make it easier to keep track. Awesome job, Eric!

yes, they are all XP Pro. i was thinking about putting it on each lab, or have one computer for a set lab and another for another lab. that way i don't have to goto that room to see whats going on.

I wonder if you can run two instances of EMIII on a particular computer... You could cover 200 computers from one spot. *shrug*
EDIT: Check out THIS thread at the Folding Forums. The WeatherMan (maker of EMIII) replied that you can run unlimited amounts of the program on one comp. Pretty awesome. Follow the link for details. Last edited by Kov-Ice; 12-04-2004 at 06:45 PM. |

Latest update of EMIII (v3.0.7) out this week. Just reviving this thread to point out this is a neat tool to use, esp. if you have F@H installed as the text-only client or as a service.

thanks for the link btw Kov-Ice. i'm not 100%sure how i'm going to go about monitoring the computers yet tho... Pette Broad said "i'm monitoring 29 myself (5 of them over VPN)...which is just abit much for emIII (makes loading the software and changing anything slower)" this could be a problem because the system(s) i can put emiii on are 1Ghz machines and run super slow!!!! there is an athlon 2400+ in the room but i don't know if i will be allowed to put it on that one or not. i guess i could always put one emiii (100 clients) on each 1Ghz pc i have. i think there are 3-4 that are networked. with only 70ish computers right now, 23 on 2 of them and 24 on the other should work. if i have any problems i'll be sure to ask.

EMIII is on version 3.0.9 now, for those that have not already downloaded it. Apparently v3.0.8 is not able to track the Amber core properly, and so this is quite an important update, even more so if you get lots of work units with the Amber core.

Another bump of an old thread here...
The Electron Microscope program itself hasn't been updated since 4-24-05 (it's on version 3.1.6 by the way), but the Protein Data file is constantly being updated to include point values and info on new WUs (it was updated again today). Dropping this file into your EMIII folder and unzipping it will get rid of the Unk that's listed for the point value on the newer proteins. |
