3 Currently Folding

Mine (2.6GHz)
My Dads 800MHz
My Sisters 500MHz

Sometimes my sister closes it and forgets to open it back up again.

I am just glad to see the team rising. I remember when it wasn't even top 100.

Keep Folding!

Jimmie, welcome back!

Just a reminder to all:
  • For specific problems, concerns, or comments - please start a new thread.
  • Please use the Info to Know thread that FF referenced as a resource spot for Announcements, Tips & Tricks, and Important Links only.

That way we can keep it from getting as bulky as the original F@H thread. Thanks!

Glad to welcome a new folder to the PCMech Folding@Home Team - anvil1951 !

Our membership has been sliding an awful lot lately, so it's great to have some fresh help. Check out THESE graphs for the details. We're down to 61 active folders from our team high of 74 just one month ago!!! That's with over 250 members who are currently folding or have folded for the PCMech Team at some point in the past.

Post here to let us know if you're joining or re-joining the cause. We need your help to make a difference!

I'm in!

I just joined. I have an FX-51 2.2ghz and an Athlon 1.5ghz XP going right now. This weekend I will have an FX-57 2.8ghz going and then when I return to work next week a P3 500mhz and a P3 800mhz. Maybe my boss may contribute as well with his computers.

Yeah this is an ancient post..but what the heck. It may encourage some newbies.

GO TEAM!

I joined a few days ago and completed my first WU this morning. I often set the machine up to run overnight, scanning my 35mm film but it usually runs a few hours with nothing to do, so I have the Folding program installed so the machine wont get bored.

I'm a hobbiest photographer and needed a new machine; I am very grateful for everyone here and that your site is here - made building the new machine easier than a Tinker-Toy windmill. Thanks a lot.

Pentium 4 2.4GHz; 1.5GB Kingston PC2100; MSI 661FM2 main board; MSI 9550 Raedon graphics card; Maxtor 60GB HD; Sony DVD-RW; 450w psu; left-over case; maybe over-did it with a couple of case fans; wireless mouse and keyboard; Graphire3 pen tablet; Viewsonic monitor.

Hi Folks, Read through this 1st stickey & as usual, didn't understand much. Would like to helpout on this project but need info. My machine is on 24/7 so could probably help.

Does the CPU size matter? Mine is only an Intel Celeron 2.70MHz. Does RAM capacity matter? Have 256k right now. Went to Crucial configurator & bought 2 512 sticks to max out my machine @ 1024k but haven't had the guts to swap it out yet. If it is critical I will get my son-in-law help me swap.

Don't use machine much. Just e-mail & surfing the web. Most of the time now is several hours a day at PCMech forums cruising topics to learn about computers. Please give me some guidance in this because I like this site & want to be part of the PCMech team. Thanks, RevCLB

Welcome RevCLB,
This is the PCMech team page at F@H (Folding at Home) : http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/m...&teamnum=13761
Just download here : http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html and install the proper files for your operating system.
Configure it with the proper info for PCMech, it's on our team page, and you're set.
I started my folding with a 1.4 t-bird so your 2.2 celly is more than "good enough".

We would be glad to have you helping out with this research. I've found that my Celery 2.4 does nearly the same points per day as my P4 2.4, so yours would be a worthy contribution.

RAM is not hugely important, but if you have it, go ahead and put it in. Your only worry is to be sure you've grounded yourself before touching the sticks. If you have an anti-static wristband, great. If not, just work in a static-free area and touch the metal frame of the computer case before handling anything.

Start a new thread here in the DC forum if you have any problems setting up. Happy folding!

Thanks Kov-Ice, I'll tell you like I told pam123. I have no idea what a Celery 2.4 is, let alone does because I am a computer dummy. Think I'm set up but if not, I will come back here. Thanks, RevCLB

I think I messed up. The program is running because the icon is on my system tray. I forgot to enter the team number. Tried to cruise the links provided but don't understand 1% of info. Shoud I uninstall & reinstall? Is there a better way to correct my mistake? Any & all ideas will be valued. Thanks, RevCLB

No problem.
Right click on the icon in the system tray.
Click on Configure.
That will get you to the folding at home Control Panel>User.
Type in your user name and the team number where indicated.

Thanks pam123, Went there & discovered I had used my real name instead of my PCMech name. Changed that & added the team #. Think I am ok now. Thanks for all you help. RevCLB

webmaster, you aren't helping yourself any by scattering these posts all over the forum. All you are doing is frustrating people and cluttering up the threads. If you want some help with a website, stick to the Web Development forum and ask some detailed questions. We would be glad to help out, but cross-posts and multiple posts on the same thing ain't cool.

Thanks,
Stryker

Hi Folks, Think I'm back running F@H again. When I went to personal stats got some wierd info. It shows number of processers in last 50 days as 2 & number in last 7 days as 0. I was off for a week but have never had 2 processors running. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks, RevCLB

If you're running a P4 with Hyper Threading, the second processor would be when folding ran on the other processor.

If you had to reinstall early on when you started, the client would have given you a new machine ID number. Maybe that's it?
