You didn't accidentally download the Windows version instead of the Mac one, possibly?

Ok, In the download section they have a Mac OS X Sign above the download links to the Mac files, which download as .dmg files. You have to deside which one you want... the text brings up a terminal and that's all, will run as long as you have the terminal up, very easy. The Graphical shows a picture of the protien and more info, not necessary if it's just going to be in the background in my opinion. The Screensaver, is, well a screen saver.
Which function do you want? I always use just the text/console. After you have downloaded the file you want(from the 5.0 section, not 4.0), you can go Here and follow the instructions for whichever it is you are installing. Team number is 13761 I think, should be in the Folding@Home thread, I would check. Your username is anything you want that isnt in use(you can check for availability Here at the top of the page. |

... A Dmg file is like an image file... it should create a little white drive "symbol" named FAH4-GUI and, after double clicking on that, a window should open with the whatever the file is inside. That file being what you would move to the Applications folder or something. Is the .dmg file not automatically mounting and creating that white drive symbol on the desktop? You could try to open it with Disk Utility, maybe. I don't have a Mac at hand so I can't quite say.
EDIT: Oh ya, Guess the OS would be good too... Oops Mines assuming OS X of some version past 10.2 at least. I don't remember 10.1, but I assume it's the same deal.

Pick the dmg file and press apple+i, this will open the info window.
open the "Open with:" twisty if necessary. Set it to Open with DiskImageMounter. (The path to that is /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter.) Now, and this is the most important step, click the Change All... button. |
