Project PCM_X
Here is what I have for the donor unless we come up with something better
Iwill KK266+ 1.4 T-bird no HSF 256 PC133 Adata It's a starting point, I also have 128Mb PC133 no name 128Mb PC100 Micron Asus P4S533 will make a decent folder I will have to test the memory, was working when they were pulled but ya never know. The mobo's were working when pulled and the Iwill and 1.4 T-bird will run 2000/ME/98 and Linux fine but has errors with XP I will need a few weeks before I can ship anything out due to some other commitments I have, plus I need a few days to test the parts before I send them out. In a few months I should have another mobo, cpu and ram combo to donate.

Any ideas on how or where I could test out three 128MB Kingston PC100 sticks? The mobo they were in popped a flux capacitor, so I dunno if that got the memory and processor too or not. I have the Slot 1 PIII 500 that was in that board, but again not sure if it works. It could do a fold in about 8 days running 24/7. Any chance there's a board out there for it, or is that not worth it?
On a side note, how can we advertise the donations aspect a little more? Maybe throw a General Discussion thread up and bump it every once in a while?

Kov, if you want to buy a board, here's a great old board at a very nice price.
http://store.yahoo.com/justdeals/p2bf.html I just passed my P2B-F on after over 3 years of flawless service. It will run up to a P3-800 100 FSB and has 4 dimm slots, maxes out at a gig. If you get it, download the manual, it's a jumper board, not softset and flash it to the 1014.003 beta bios. |

Does the Tbird CPU not need a HSF? I'm not very familiar with older CPUs. I've got a socket A stock HSF I can donate if needed, though I'm sure you guys will have old stock HSFs sitting around

Every CPU needs an HSF unit. It would overheat if it didn't have one.
Remember, if you have parts you are willing to donate, include the specs and drop an email to me at force.flow at gmail dot com with the subject of subject: PCM Adopt-A-Rig Parts. |
