my processing
Ok, I have 3 computers running now.
I have my xp3200, xp 1700, and xp 1500 laptop. All of which are turning numbers. I am not leave all these machines on 24/7, but I am running them when I can. Like the rest of you, I don't want a crazy electric bill. In the winter is one thing, where the heat from all the processors at leasts helps heat my house. I actually vent heat from my computer room to my living room. However, in the summer, AC has to work extra to cool this room. Anyones, I have so far turned one more unit in, with 2 more getting closer to finish. I bet they would get more response to foldering at home, if they gave abit mroe options in the size of work units they hand out. Like if they would cut it down to what say a 1.5 processor could work in 8 hours, more people would do this I believe. where it is now, some of these work units stress even my xp3200, 2.2 ghz. Most people look for the short term rewards, they want to see results, if they could be like I did 2 or 3 units today on one PC they would jump in. I know smaller work units would be less points then one big, but they would still add up. Also, the majarity of people are probably averaging 1.5 ghz machines now. So if the target processor was 1.5, those that have faster would keep working too, but it would bring in more people over all I believe. Anyways, I just wanted to give my opinion.

do you mean something like having the option to get more points per WU but take longer to do or get less points per WU but get more done in a given time? if so then you can in a way, the timeless WU's in the setup. its the same as the genome project they had awhile back. they are worth less points but you can get more done at one time.
also i think that the program requests WU depending on the system, faster ones get larger WU's.

hmm, i would like to try if possible to set my systems up to get the smaller, lower point work units. I am like what I described. I like to see results faster, even for smaller rewards, as I know over time it would be about the same value. I would get to see the rewards comes up in steps, instead of jumps.
