Long time... low point yeild

Is anybody else getting incredibly LONG units that take forever to finish and reward very few points? My production has dropped off to the point where I was wondering if a couple of my machines were off line, but it turns out that there have just been very slow, low yeild units lately.

First time I've ever been out of 200+ average over 24hrs. I'm in the bottom spot of the top 20 producers! I can't handle this!!

Not complaining, just curious.

Yea, I show 4 WU's completed for 438 points on 9-4. I've been averaging over 300 points per WU for a long time but that's only 109 points per WU. Think it's the type of core we've been folding.

I have a 2500 frame job on a P2-450mhz. Although the points page shows 100 frames. Spent 9hrs at work to complete 19 frames. Wonder if they still assign jobs based on the performance of your computer. My 2 P4 3.2ghz keep getting 600pt job(not complaining), but my 1.5ghz laptop is getting the same 600pt jobs.

Yes, as far as I know they still assign the WU's baised on the computer. Thats why a PII 450mhz machine, dedicated folder, can return a WU within the deadline.

Ah, not necessarily, Grasshoppa! I checked the Ignore Deadlines box in the Advanced tab in the Configuration on my PII and PIII machines to prevent a time out.

"grasshoppa" my new nickname, PR?? lol

From what people say on the Folding Forums, a PIII 450 can finish a WU before the deadline! I have never tried it, but a number of them say it can, I'm sure its close if anything.

Yea, your too young to remember the old Kung Foo tv show. The young Kung foo student was referred to by the master/trainer as Grasshoppa!

Alrighty then, I guess I'll just grin and bear it.

My P4 HT and AXP 2800+ systems are cookin' along no problem as usual, but these recent WUs are giving my PIII systems a severe whoopin'!! Both PIIIs (a 650MHz @ stock speeds and a 600MHz @ 790MHz) are working on Gromacs right now, which I have noticed tend to be quite a bit more complex. Looks like I'm off the top 20 producers now for the first time.

Thanks guys (you too grasshoppa)!

I get the slow ones too... nothing you can really do about it except wait for it to finish. I have found the worst to be the 272 point ones (I do not recall the name off the top of my head), I have seen them take upwards of 5-6 days.

I've had a couple 80 point WUs lately that took 20+ minute per step to complete. I tried a reboot and restarting the Folding service, but it didn't seem to do much good. I guess we just have to bite the bullet.
