Lightbulb Join the team!

Hello Everyone.
I've just turned PilotinCommand's poll and suggestion into a sticky (top of the forum) and we're going to let him head the team.
Check it out and let him know what you think.

Hello PCMechers,

Thanks for the introduction Pam.

I've added an update to the original post, which might be particularly usefull to those participating in the Folding@Home project. Maybe you allready know of it, but it's certainly interesting and gives a glimpse of the (near) future and developments concerning Folding@Home in relation with BOINC.

Questions, suggestions and critical sidenotes are always welcome. Hope to hear from you.

For now I wish all of you a good ending of 2005 and a prosperous 2006.

Hi,

Since the CPDN team I created is disbanded I needed a new roof over my head. So I switched to Climate Predictors of PCMech:

Hoping others will join to...

I just converted my Seti Classic to BOINC and loaded up my Linux box. This old beast (K6-2/500) is a slow one - looks like 42 hours for a work unit.

Hi GLC,

Great to have you on the team. Just wondering if you also run other BOINC projects?

Hope this will inspire other PCMech members.

PiC

P.S. I still haven't got any news concerning the Folding@Home project adding a BOINC client. Maybe somebody else has heard some new rumors in this area?

Hi folks, got angry & stupid & did a wipe out system recovery. Lost my F@H link. Should I go back to f@h or do the BOINC setup?

We've all been there.
Try BOINC and expand your knowledge base.

Hi RevCLB,

Well I couldn't agree more with Pam. And if the rumors are true and the people at Stanford are enthousiastic enough about it, it will be possible to run Folding via the BOINC software in the (near) future. So you don't have to say goodbye to Folding if all goes well.

Main reason I stopped the Seti@Home CLASSIC and Folding@Home projects is because BOINC gives me the oppertunity to participate (simultanously) in projects I like and in those I think that are important. And all that without much hassle, it's all controlled via 1 simple program. And since I will never have the computer power to reach that number 1 spot in the rankings, I like to just have easy option to participate in projects I like. I think everyone who has been around distributed computing for some time, knows how much "trouble" and effort it cost to setup Seti and Folding on 1 computer before BOINC was operational.

Hope you'll join the team... uhhh I mean teams. Let's not forget you have an option. If you have any questions just PM me. Also check out the "info-thread" about BOINC: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=148089

PIC, you have any idea how to get all my Classic workunits converted to credits? Is that possible?

GLC,

I believe that's not possible. I'll look into it when I have some time.

Checked it. It's not possible. Classic Seti credits can not be converted to the BOINC "cobblestones": http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/inde...ome_and_Credit
