Yoo Hoo, Eeeerrriiiic!

Just stopped by to poke a little fun. Seems there's two of us now in the 800K ranks and I'm closin' fast! Better lock the doors cuz I don't want to blow them off as I fly by. (Hehe!)

I can hear him saying " quad core " as we speak....just hoping PR does not ante up for the same...a million points seems totally out of reach from where I sit.

Naw, me thinks someone is planning to buy a new vid card and take advantage of the GPU folding once the bugs are worked out. You gonna make me spend a bunch of money just to keep up e08?

Heh, one step ahead of ya, already got a card, X1900GT and have room for another, but what I AM doing is working on overclocking it. That and a few new systems should bring me about up to speed again. Lets see here, a Sempron 3400+, possibly 2 2.8Ghz cellys, athlon 4600+ X2, P4 3.2Ghz and maybe a 1.6Ghz Conroe laptop. One of the cellys were added last night, the 4600+ was added about a week ago but wasn't working right (got a fresh XP install today), the 3.2 P4 will be added as soon as I get my motherboard for it and my brother should be buying a 3400+ any time now. The conroe laptop has about an 80% of not being added but we'll see.

I also have a few other, slower, machines that I can fore up if need be but they wont help too much.... like I said tho, the race isn't over till we reach the finish line as i KNOW you know your self. So can I assume you accept my challenge? hehe

I must say tho, congrats on breaking 800k! You have moved up fast, faster than I did!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to uninstall/disable the cpu folding clients in order to run the ATI GPU client? And I think I read the GPU will fold 20 times faster than the present ones. If so, you should take off like a streak here pretty soon! Doubt I can keep up then but I'll keep my little farm active.

Actually yes you do, I posted a "Howto" about a week ago about this. You need to have one active CPU to "feed" the GPU data. So for a single core/processor system you can only run on either the GPU or CPU, not both. With dual core you can run one of each. We'll see how it goes tho.

Ok, you're not in stealth mode any more, Eric! What hardware have you added to bring such a dramatic ppd increase? Looks like you're gonna make me work hard for that #1 spot! Good job, man. Keep folding!

what, new hardware? lets see what all i have folding here...

AMD 2000+ Mobile
AMD Athlon 2600+
Intel PIII 500mhz dually (2 clients)
Intel P4 1.6Ghz
AMD Sempron 3000+
AMD Athlon 2400+
Intel 2.8Ghz celly
Intel PIII 1Ghz celly
AMD Athlon 4600+ X2 (2 clients)
AMD Athlon 4800+ X2 (@ 2.5Ghz) currently running the SMP client in a Linux VM with an x1900GT (553/684) running the GPU client in windows. This was just setup this way last night so shouldnt have any impact on the current points.

I also have an AMD Sempron 3100+ thats only on a few hours a day and has yet to finish its first unit as well as a Sempron 3400+ that has yet to upload a unit (onboard NIC problem)

I think thats all I've got. I might be able to get maybe 2 more systems but I dont know, they belong to a friend of mine. The PCMech user by the name of mr_spider3 is a very good friend of mine and has been folding under my name almost since I started and some of these systems are his.

I think its gonna be a close race, as of right now it loks like you will hit 1million in 58 days while I wont hit it for 63 days. This is kinda fun! lol

Well, ya passed me..... for some reason Im not getting the points I thought I would get with the systems I have running. :/ I know 2 of those machines (2000+ mobile and 2.8Ghz celly) arnt running right now but that shouldnt make that kind of difference. I hope to be adding another 3.6Ghz ish P4 as soon as I can get a mobo for it...

Hmm, I'll have to comeup with something pretty soon if I wanna beat ya!

HEY! SLOWDOWN!!! lol

All my machines are connected to Adelphia/Comcast for internet (my systems as well as my buddies) and with adelphia switching to comcast we have been loosing internet. My buddy hasnt had any for like a week now and his main system just crashed to make things worse!

Your about 50k points away from 1 milion, I dont think Im gonna beat ya but I'm gonna try! What ppd are you getting from that 233? 10-15 I would assume?

My ppd have dropped as I predicted. I sold a P3-866 and my 2.6 Cely laptop. Replaced the laptop with a new Dell E1505 running a C2D T5500. I've loaded it with 2 clients and it's running nice and cool. Plus a 1.4GHz P4 has been down for 6 - 8 weeks cuz the person I loaned it to hasn't had it online. I'm probably going to take that one back and run it here at home. I have no idea the ppd on that old 233 but it isn't much. The logs show it takes months to complete a wu. Got a birthday coming up in Feb and I'm hoping the 1M mark hits about then. Hope you get your connection issue sorted soon, the team points are falling off too.

going up

i got my problem figured out with comcast. not sure if eric did yet though. but we are climbing again. but panama you hit 1 mil in 19 days and we hit it in 39. but we could still beat you i got the 2.8 celly back running and my 4600+ that crashed is up again folding away. found that my son likes to play with buttons and truned my 2400+ off and i didnt even notice for a week. so that should bring us up even more. plus a good friend of ours. we call him gummy he has some computer that he will add to our team and another friend chris that is adding his. but im not sure on the specs of those systems.

I've noticed that big increase in Eric's ppd count. All I can do is hang on at this point. I'm hoping to break 1M just before or on my birthday - 2/21. This is gonna be interesting. I can hear the fat lady warming up but she's not singing yet!

Internet is still kinda screwy. I lost internet last night and it just came back a little while ago, durring the outage I finished 2 units and my machine sat idle. i have 1 more trick, if can pull off if I can get the funds in time, that should make the race a lot closer. I have my doubts that i have the time tho.

I think they got the internet back to normal now, i noticed my ppd jumped up a little more. i was playing with some numbers a bit ago and if you keep the same ppd i'll have to get over 5000 ppd to beat you! no way thats gonna happen even if i woul dhave the cash for the little "trick" i had planned. good race tho! i wish it would have been closer. next time, and there will be a next time.... you just keep that #1 spot warm for me, lol.

Looks like a day or so delay in reaching the magic milliion mark. We had a power outage on Tues morning that shut down all of my 14 machines for a couple hours. All came back to where they were in the folding cycle except for the two running Vista RC1. Both were running two clients each and both lost all progress. Had to start 4 new work units. Then I had to service two new Dell laptops and the customers failed to provide their power packs. Had to unplug my own laptop in order to use my power pack on their machines. That kept 2 more clients from running during the service time. Those activities - or lact of activities - are why my ppd for the 14th took a major dive. Looks like I'm still on track to make it this weekend. And don't worry, Eric. I'll keep the light on for ya!

Ah yes, just another day in paradise! Had the laptop off line yesterday for field use and when I checked EMIII yesterday evening, my network was down. Had to reset the modem and router. Then I find out the old P2-233 machine wasn't communicating. A quick check showed a dead hard drive! So, lose all the work done on that machine, load a new/old hdd to keep it running and recheck the systems. I see a whole list of low point WU's showing on EMIII that take a long time to complete. I've seen 1 and 9 for WU points the last couple days. This keeps up and you may yet catch me, Eric! I've already slipped below the 1600 ppd avg on EOC and dropped to 2nd place there. The last 2 days have sucked for output. Ok, enough whining. Back to work.
