Don't look now but there's a bunch of others gaining on us! And our next conquest is 2.3 years away. We need a bunch of folks, or a bunch more cpu's - and soon!

Foldin' For PCMech!

Way to go team!! We just passed Sharky Forums, who went flying by us awhile back. Guess they have lost some steam.
catacon had been talking about getting his school to fold for us, wonder how thats comming along? It would certainly give us a boost.

I joined, am running it during screensaver. I will get it going on both cores of my e6400 soon, but I don't really feel like it right now. (I know, I'm lazy)
I may get my secondary computer set up to run it. But I have posted a question in the correct forum for that to see how to hook that up. I hope I can improve our rankings! Last edited by fleeingpepper; 12-06-2006 at 05:47 PM. |

timeless WU's are no more. many people were running them on their high end AMD systems because they would get more points over running standard units thus using up all the timeless units. If you want to run folding the only option is to run standard units. PR currently runs them on a 233mhz system and it finishes within the deadline.
btw, welcome to the team!

dont worry about the noob questions, we all were noobs at one point!
![]() no turning the system off wont hurt the folding process, you can change the time the client saves from 3min up to 30min. the default is 15min IIRC. |

deadlineless is the setting for timeless units and will result in not getting any units at all. it wont take 6000 days to finish, give it an hour or so to get a better idea of the time it will take.
btw, congrats on your first unit!

you should be able to finish within the deadline unless your system is only running for an hour or so everyday. Even running 6 hours a day it would be about equal to a 700mhz system running 24/7 which will finish within the deadline.

i think i remember seeing some of the timless units in the 50,000 range but dont hold me to that. the number of frames doesnt nessacerilly indicate the time it will take to finish, ie, more frames doent always mean it will take longer to finish vs a unit with less framesit all depends on the unit itself and the speed of your computer.

if we want to get a real boost in points, we should try to recruit some other teams (and have them all change their team #'s to ours).

DogDude, They do get longer than 20,000 because I am working on one that has 50,000 at this time. Looking forward to seeing how many points that one will bring. Anyway, welcome all the new folders to our team. We could sure use some more people to help us out. Thanks.
