Foldin' For PCMech!

I dont know, witht he way SETI works I think its baloney. The video says one of their top users has made contact, which to me would mean that someone, like you or me, is running the seti program and has found the sounds of aliens. The thing is tho, that once a user finds a signal other SETI researchers will independently verify the signal. Then governments around the world will be notified. Another thing is that, as far as I know the WU would be uploaded back to SETI before even the user is notified that he has found something.
Given this I dont see how some guy can make claims that he found this signal by using SETI and SETI not mentioning it first. |

I'm all for SETI, but a quick Google on the news, and at their site yields no mention of "contact." The vid in the link is not from SETI.org, so most likely it's a hoax.

Yup, look closely at those other videos and it's pretty obvious that it's a conspiracy theory site.

Perhaps this was just a ploy to get more people to join?

It's a bunch of hogwash and I stopped running SETI a long time ago, for I now do something more useful (My Opinion) by folding for Cancer instead. Plus I think it might have been the late Carl Sagan (or someone of that caliber for I can't remember) say do we really want to search for E.T. and accidentally get notice by an advanced aliens. He said that we and not them would get assimilated by a much more advance species. I prefer that the human race advance on our own and if we don't destroy ourselves first we should see some wonderful advancements in the near future.
