SMP not for use with dual core machines?

I use Linux for folding - my router freezes several times per week with Windows - and read where Standford recomends SMP only for 4 cores and not for two, that it has problems with dual core use. Is this current information? My other issue would be using the 64-bit SMP on a 32-bit kernel, but the four core warning stopped me. Any help?

the SMP client is currently in beta, you are welcome to install it but just know that there are some bugs. i currently run it and get much higher points than with running the standard client.

The SMP client is also designed more for systems with 4 cores BUT it can be run on a dual core system. My AMD 4800+ X2 runs it just fine, the only thing is that it only uses 80% of the CPU right now. Im sure this will change as the beta testing ends.

running the SMP client on your 930 should get you about 600 ppd which is pretty good for a single machine.

I became wrapped up with a clean install of Vista - it will not recognize my 8-year-old PDA and I had some trouble with it on an important Epson printer; got the printer going, though. I found out too late I should have backed up my Folding files in Linux even though it's on a different drive because the clean install wiped out grub; I turned an easy afternoon's work into a four-day ordeal. I hope to get back to it next days off: Wednesday or Thursday. Meanwhile, I'm folding using the 32-bit.

Thanks.
