Trouble loading SMP client

I downloaded the SMP client to an Ubuntu 64-bit machine. I unzipped it to home/myname/folding/FAH and both files are shown there. When I go into the terminal, I used ./fah5 -configonly and it tells me that the file or directory does not exist. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I've had to dust off the Linux commands section of my brain, so just for reference, to get to the directory the files are in, I used cd/ home/myname/folding/fah and end up with a prompt ending in FAH$, so I've assumed I'm at least in the correct directory.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.

to double check that ur in the correct folder type "pwd" (Print Working Directory). Are you sure the name of the file you want is just fah5? (Sorry, don't have the linux client here :-)

you have to untar the SMP client before you can use it. something like this should do it: tar xzf FAH_SMP_Linux.tgz

give that a shot

I already did that, but called it unzipped. I told you I'm rusty on Linux!

I did find a potential problem, though. The documentation on this machine is incorrect, so the previous net admin who purchased this got ripped off. It was supposed to be a Athlon 64 X2 3800, but it's got an Athlon 64 3200+ in it, so SMP won't work right for it anyway. Bleh, I was hoping to be able to kick-start my folding into higher gear again.

Anyone have a Dual-Core socket 939 chip laying around?

whoops, sorry i read your post too fast. too bad about it not being an X2, maybe you'll find another machine thats labeled as a 3200+ and will really be a 3800+ X2!
