Better yet, any body that has a PC with a PCI-E slot , get an ATI X1950XT W/ 512 M and run the GPU client,
and save $500.00
And still have the flexibility of a multi-purpose box

i would agree. while the PS3 is uber powerful, its price tag is just too high right now. Stanford has set its ppd at 900 points so 900ppd for $500. an x1950xt will out perform that, even a C2D running SMP should get more points and cost less to buy. maybe after the price drops some they may be worth it for folding only but i cant see myself buying one right now. Plus i hate Sony.

EDIT: here is a link to stanfords site listing the current TFLOPS of different platforms. http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/...?qtype=osstats
